FLOAT’S MESSAGE
We are a nation shaped by immigrants from around the world. Their resilience, determination, and hope helped build a better future for generations to come. The Monarch Butterfly symbolizes the strength and spirit they carried with them.
Those who came before us helped build our democracy on those shared values that protect the basic human rights of all people: liberty, justice, freedom, equality, humanity, and unity.
They also entrusted us with a powerful way to uphold those values: our voice, expressed through the right to vote.
Your vote gives your voice power.
Special thanks to the Float’s designer Cindi Lopane

Respect MO Voters – Citizens Initiative Protection
367,000 Signatures from across all 115 Missouri Counties!
Many of you are aware of the danger the MO State Legislature has put to our rights as citizens to petition our state government for change. It is vital that we understand the implications of this situation, as it directly affects our ability to voice our concerns and advocate for the changes we wish to see in our communities. Many of you took action to support Respect MO Voters, a movement aimed at ensuring that our voices are heard and respected in the legislative process.
If you signed this petition, know that it will be on an upcoming ballot, representing a critical opportunity for all citizens to reaffirm their commitment to democracy and active participation in governmental affairs. The Secretary of State will be reviewing the signatures that have been collected, and it will be their responsibility to determine whether this initiative is placed on the August ballot or the November ballot.
This decision is significant, as it will affect the timing and visibility of the initiative, potentially influencing voter turnout and engagement. It is essential that we remain vigilant and proactive during this process, ensuring that our rights as citizens are safeguarded and that our collective voice is not silenced. We must encourage our fellow citizens to stay informed, engage in discussions, and prepare to make their voices heard during the upcoming elections. Every signature, every conversation, and every vote counts towards shaping the future we desire for our state.
What This Amendment Does:
Protects Your Vote: Prevents the legislature from overturning or gutting laws we pass at the ballot box unless they get an 80% supermajority AND voter approval.
Ends Deceptive Language: Ensures ballot summaries are “clear, unbiased, fair, and easy to understand”—no more “trick” questions.
Guards Our Freedom: Declares the right to petition a fundamental right and stops politicians from making it harder for citizens to get on the ballot.
If you are new to the cause and want to find out what else you can do, visit Respect MO Voters.org. This website serves as a valuable resource not just for information, but also for actionable steps you can take to contribute to the cause. We will need to work hard to educate the voters on this effort, which is vital for preserving our democratic processes. Most people agree that they want to retain the Citizens Initiative Process in MO as needing a simple majority statewide; however, the legislature is attempting to shift the requirements dramatically. This proposed change would move us from a straightforward statewide majority to a more complex system in which it would require both a statewide majority and a majority vote in at least five of the eight Missouri Congressional districts. Such a shift could complicate the process and undermine the voice of the people, making it crucial that we mobilize our efforts to inform and rally support among voters across the state.
This could be the Do Something you’ve been looking for!!
To support IWWP’s ongoing initiatives (i.e. the No Kings Protests, Do Something events, MayDay efforts, and the 250th Celebration, etc.) we need your collaboration in crafting distinctive, hand-crafted items.
Can you assist with any of the following?
Project suggestions:
Ideas that are cost-effective to produce,
Easy to assemble using basic instructions and common tools,
Make them compact for easy transport to events.
During your free time, could you:
Help design and/or build selected projects,
Teach others how to do these projects,
Work independently on a project.
Do you have any experience making wax cord friendship bracelets? Would you be willing to teach us?
Please volunteer and/or submit your suggestions by completing the Volunteer/Suggestion form or emailing us at indivisiblewwp@gmail.com.
Sometimes, the world gives us exactly what we need to see to remember that we are better together.
Yesterday,King Charles III delivered a historic address to a joint meeting of Congress, speaking of a “generosity of spirit” and a duty to foster compassion across all faiths and nations. He reminded us that light triumphs over darkness when we choose to value one another and work toward a common peace.
Then, in a beautiful display of that very spirit, the Buffalo Sabres fans showed us what it looks like in practice. During Game 5, when a microphone failure threatened to silence “O Canada,” 19,000 voices rose as one. These fans—Americans and Canadians alike—didn’t miss a beat, carrying the anthem for a neighbor and a friend.
Why this matters:
Unity over Division: In a volatile world, these moments prove that our foundational principles of respect and partnership aren’t just words—they are alive in our actions.
Strength in Community: Whether it’s an alliance between nations or a crowd in a stadium, we are at our strongest when we fill the silence for each other.
The Power of Voice: Hope isn’t just a feeling; it’s the sound of thousands of people choosing to sing the same song.
Let’s carry this energy forward. There is so much more that unites us than divides us.
Strength in Our Own Backyard: Local Opportunities to Unite
If those stories of unity inspired you, there are a few ways to put that spirit into action right here in St. Charles this weekend. Whether it’s sharing a meal or helping a neighbor, here is how we can show up for each other:
🍔 Grill & Resist: A May Day Gathering
Let’s reclaim what community looks like—no corporations, just neighbors. Join Missouri Jobs with Justice and Indivisible We Will Persist for a day of food and solidarity.
When: Friday, May 1st | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Where: Jaycee Park – Shelter 1 (2801 Elm Street, St. Charles)
Note: Bring your own chair, your appetite, and your spirit!
🗳️ Volunteer Lit-Drop with Monica Balestreri
Help spread the word for St. Charles County Council District 7. This is a “no-knock” canvass, making it an easy and flexible way to make a real impact.
When: Saturday, May 2nd
The Perk: After the work is done, head to Monica’s for a Cinco de Mayo party with free tacos and margaritas for all volunteers!
Details: Text or call (636) 634-6815 to get involved.
Whether we’re singing anthems in a stadium or flipping burgers in the park, the message is the same: We are stronger when we stand together.
Are you a St. Charles County resident concerned about the recent shift in local law enforcement’s role in immigration?
As our County Council moves forward with plans to integrate local police with federal enforcement, it is time for us to sharpen our skills, strengthen our bonds, and build a localized network of safety. We aren’t just neighbors—we are each other’s first line of defense.
The landscape of St. Charles County is changing. To ensure that all our residents feel secure in their homes and on our streets, we are organizing to:
Sharpen Your Skills: Learn “Know Your Rights” (KYR) facilitation and how to effectively document enforcement activity safely and legally.
Train for Community Defense: Moving beyond theory into practice—building rapid-response networks that can support families in real-time.
Expand Ongoing Efforts: We aren’t starting from scratch. Join existing local initiatives and help us scale our reach from O’Fallon to St. Peters and beyond.
Thank you for attending our meeting Tuesday, April 21st. We had a dynamic group and enjoyed the discussion! Mark your calendar for our next meeting May 19, 2026 6:30 Spencer Road Branch of St. Charles County Library Room A.
Here is a recap for those unable to make the meeting.

We had good discussions on various items in the presentation Indivisible We Will Persist Moving Forward Presentation. Please, take a look for ideas on how you can get involved in our democracy IWWP Moving Forward
We also had a spokesperson from the MICA Project. They are currently trying to get grassroots efforts going for a St. Charles MICA Chapter. Please check out there website as well: https://www.mica-project.org/

It will feature free food and drinks and will be an opportunity for residents of St. Charles County to come together to meet and greet and have conversation. All are invited-this is a non-partisan event.

We need your unique perspective and creative energy to help us move forward and make a difference in St. Charles County, State of Missouri and United States of America!
Come ready to brainstorm, challenge the status quo, and help us take action.
We have moved our meetings to the Spencer Road Branch of St. Charles County Library district to be more centrally located.
Indivisible We Will Persist relies entirely on supporters like you. We receive no funding from National Indivisible and depend on your generosity. We dislike asking for donations as much as you dislike hearing requests for donations. And, every organization that is working to protect our democracy needs resources right now.
IWWP is adopting a new strategy: when someone donates a specific dollar amount, they receive a Thank You gift in return. This method has proven effective for other Indivisible Chapters. We tried it out with our IWWP T-shirts and saw positive results. Now, we want to expand this idea. That’s why we are “Looking for CRAFTY People”. We want to create unique, one-of-a-kind Hand-Crafted items.
Could this be the Do Something project you’ve been looking for?
Here is what WE need to get started:
Suggestions for potential items that are:
Cost-effective to produce
Easily assembled by volunteers using basic instructions and common tools
Compact and suitable for convenient transport to events
Volunteers (this means YOU) willing to:
Teach others how to create selected projects
Learn how to create the selected projects while you learn a new skill
Initiate your own projects independently
Ok all you CRAFTERS, it’s time to put on your thinking caps, dust off that unused cricut, dig out your sewing machine from the bottom of the closet, locate your scissors, shake up your craft paint, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, FILL OUT THE VOLUNTEER FORM.
SPECIAL REQUEST: One particular project that has been very successful for an Indivisible Group in California is Friendship bracelets with encrypted messages in Morse Code like RESIST, STRENGTH, FREEDOM, (and their most popular) F#@! TRUMP. If you have experience in making wax cord Friendship bracelets, WE SURE WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO YOU!
We had a strong election in support of ensuring our county retains strong school boards committed to education and families. All the winning candidates were endorsed by one of our partner organizations St. Charles County Families for Public Schools.
We successfully pushed back on Proposition RT, freezing of Real Estate Taxes that would have greatly impacted the future funding our schools, libraries, fire and EMS districts. We successfully voted down increases in sales tax for Fire and EMS districts.
Let’s begin the work of holding our elected officials accountable to act on our behalf. Hold them to standards that ensure our Democracy is what we want to see in St. Charles County.
We can no longer just vote on election day, we must work on a regular basis to have oversight to what our elected officials are doing on our behalf.
Go check your municipality for dates and times of meetings. Check your school board and library for dates and times of meetings. Make a commitment to yourself to engage with local officials to ensure they hear your voice. We have the power to make a difference but we cannot do so by staying silent and not taking action!
Our next election will be August 4, 2026 and will be State and Federal Primary Election. I hope we as a community can come together to support candidates that we know will ensure the future of our community. If you are interested in participating in a vetting process for state and federal candidates please let us know by sending an email to IndivisibleWWP@gmail.com.
All households should have received their sample ballot and reminder to vote in the mail!
If you have not received please be certain to check your ballot thru St. Charles County Election Authority Ballot Look Up
Prior posts have shared information on this election cycle and the various items on the ballot. That information is still available by scrolling down through more recent posts to find those posts with the same picture as above.
As we at Indivisible We Will Persist are very concerned about the future of our school districts I did want to share a graph that was shared with me earlier today.
A homeowner in St. Charles County, on average, will save $122/year if Prop RT passes. School districts will lose $4M in year 1 and $20M by year 5. Please consider voting no on Prop RT. This chart is specific to Francis Howell School District however I’m certain all St. Charles County School Districts would have similar impact.

On March 28, NoKings3 was well attended. 4,300 stickers were handed out in St Peters as a way to count how many courageous people came together for a peaceful, nonviolent First Amendment day of action against the wanna-be King and his regime who are dismantling, with cruelty and disregard for the rule of law, our democratic republic, covering up for pedophiles, choosing war, destruction, grift, voter suppression, and so much more offense against humanity.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action with no civil disobedience — that we did. All participants abided by the request to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully.
Organizers are happy to report that there were lots of continuous honks and waves, cheers and chants, and a multitude of creative signs.
Thanks and appreciation go to protesters who responded to Bank of America’s request to not loiter in their parking lot, and moved along to friendlier ground, and to smokers who graciously moved far away from others to abate secondhand smoke exposure.
Thanks to Gina and Marilyn and Alex and the rest of the Democracy Squad for your caring hospitality, outreach, and safety and medical oversight, to Zane for organizing the candidates’ platform and to the candidates and their reps who came, to the signature gatherers and advocates for supporting active participation in our democracy, to Diane and her team for counting attendance with stickers (4,300), and to everyone who answered the call from Indivisible We Will Persist to be Peacekeepers and medic support and backup support, and to the Indivisible We Will Persist team, Linda, Judy, Julie, Cathie, Don, Mike and Steve, for being awesome team members as we brought together our skills to organize this NoKings event. Appreciation and gratitude, to everyone, for coming with courage and joy to air our grievances and state our demands.
Please join us at Mid Rivers Mall Dr. and Suemandy Dr. every Saturday from Noon to 1:30. In mobilize we call it the Hands Off protest in St. Peters. Particularly as we approach our severe weather season, we appreciate sign ups at mobilize.us

Miles Taylor is a former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chief of Staff who has become a prominent advocate for government transparency and local civic action. He is a co-founder of Defiance.org, an organization focused on protecting democratic institutions and countering what they describe as “presidential abuses of power” and federal overreach.
One of Taylor’s recent core missions through Defiance.org involves tracking and opposing the creation of “secret” or unaccountable federal detention facilities. He argues that by staying quiet, local communities can inadvertently allow the federal government to establish infrastructure that bypasses traditional oversight.
Local communities are the first line of defense. By participating in municipal government, residents can ensure their neighborhoods remain under local democratic control rather than being repurposed for federal detention without consent.

Understanding the Tax Propositions on the April Ballot
This is a county-wide measure that would freeze property taxes for all homeowners, regardless of age.
1. Proposition RT
How it works: Locks your property tax bill at its current level (the “Initial Credit Year”). If your home value goes up later, you get a tax credit to cover the difference.
The Goal: Prevents homeowners from being “priced out” of their homes due to rising assessments.
The Risk: 97% of property taxes go to schools*, libraries, and emergency services. Freezing the tax base makes it harder for these entities to keep up with inflation and growth.
2. Proposition EMS & Proposition FIRE
Because Prop RT (above) would freeze property tax revenue, fire and ambulance districts are asking for a Sales Tax to ensure they can still afford fuel, equipment, and staff.
Measure
Who is asking?
The Swap
Proposition EMS
St. Charles County Ambulance District
Adds 1% Sales Tax (County-wide) to reduce property taxes by 50% of the revenue collected.
Proposition FIRE
Wentzville/O’Fallon/St. Peters/Lake St. Louis Fire Protection Districts
Adds 1% Sales Tax (Local) to reduce property taxes by 50% of the revenue collected.
Exemptions: These sales taxes DO NOT apply to groceries, gas, prescriptions, or utilities.
The Strategy: Capture money from visitors and shoppers to lower the burden on local homeowners.
*Please note when considering taxes that impact our local school districts we all need to be aware that the State of MO is ranked 50th among all the states in state-sourced funding for schools. Thus local property taxes are the primary source for school funding.
With one month until elections, now is the time to begin your research. A little effort in understanding the candidates is essential for electing leaders who align with our community’s values.
Finding Your Ballot
I was reviewing the St. Charles County Ballot for the April 2026 election. As it covers the entire county I found it challenging to find those items that pertained to me. I needed to check my specific districts, so I headed to the MO Secretary of State website. I found a great shortcut on that site. It allowed me to view those items that would be on my ballot. I want to share the steps I took.
Starting with simple google searches and face book searches can get you a lot of information on candidates.
If you are viewing social media don’t just read what they post, read their comments. Look to see how they respond to those who disagree with them. Check to see if they respond professionally. Are they informative in what they say.
If you are looking for information on School Board candidates check out the School District website. As well as the website for St. Charles County Families for Public School(https://sccffps.org/)
On local elections your city newsletter should have information on the candidates.
Once you have found a way to contact the candidate, reach out via email, phone or social media. You can also attend an event they are scheduled for and get to know them.
Attend your local city board of alderman meeting, to see your incumbent candidate in action.
Attend a St. Charles County Council meeting, to see your incumbent in action.
Additional Voting Information
If you have moved recently or need to register to vote: Register to Vote. The deadline to register for the April election is March 11, 2026.
If you will be out of town on April 7, 2026 be sure to visit the St. Charles County Election Authority before you leave. Absentee voting is available from 8:30 – 4:30 at the Election Authority.

This is for a peaceful, nonviolent First Amendment protest against the wanna-be King and his regime. They are dismantling our democratic republic with cruelty and disregard for the rule of law. A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action with no civil disobedience. All participants should de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Participants are expected to act lawfully at these events.
Please remember that agitators are attempting to disrupt peaceful protest. While you’re enjoying the honks and waves, cheers and chants, and a multitude of creative signs, please be aware. There will also be HECKLERS, INSTIGATORS, SUSPICIOUS ACTORS, COUNTER PROTESTERS, and maybe some IRATE PROTESTERS RESPONDING TO THE ABOVE. As hard as it is to do, please do not engage! All have a First Amendment right to free speech. Some of us respond with a peace sign or chants, some just ignore the few birdies flying by.
Indivisible We Will Persist – NoKings organizers are RECRUITING PEACEKEEPERS.
The Role of the Peacekeepers is to perform the following:
Observe and de-escalate agitators, whether they are participants or not.
Observe, video record and afterwards upload incidents to the national NoKings organizers (link and training provided).
Observe and report an emergency to 911+ Lead Peacekeeper via phone, text and/or walkie talkie(provided).
Observe an incident, ask bystanders for space and encourage a chant or song to reduce surrounding tensions.
Peacekeepers will work in teams of two’s and need to stay together throughout the event.
Teams of Peacekeepers are asked to be trained in advance. Links for online training will be provided.
Peacekeepers will need to be available on March 28th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Peacekeepers will wear identifying NoKings shirts. An Indivisible We Will Persist name tag on a lanyard will be provided.
Peacekeepers must be alert, should remain hands-free, except for communication tools.
Above all, Peacekeepers are to support fellow citizens to peacefully assemble and express their First Amendment right to free speech.
Peacekeepers will also help us disburse peacefully and united by thanking participants for coming starting at 1:45. Explaining to participants that leaving by 2:00 PM is for the safety of all. Remind participants that we protest weekly at Mid Rivers Mall Dr. noon to 1:30.
Ensure trash is picked up.
Please reach out if you want to help with this important role.

2. Discuss upcoming April 7th Municipal Elections
Democracy starts at the local level. We’ll be discussing the critical municipal races and school board seats up for grabs on April 7th. These local victories are the “firewall” against extremism in our own backyard.
3. Retaking our Voice:
Stopping Bob Onder in US Congressional District 3 and Ann Wagner in US Congressional District 2 . It is time to bring new leadership to Missouri’s 2nd & 3rd District. We will discuss our strategy to unseat Bob Onder and Ann Wagner by backing candidates who actually represent us. We’re talking about long-term organizing to replace their agenda with one that serves the people. While the election is months away we need to work consistently throughout the year. Our goal is to ensure we remove these authoritarian sympathizers from congress.
4. Sustaining the Street Heat
Our weekly protests are the heartbeat of our visibility. We will review our current schedule. We will discuss new locations. We will ensure we have a steady presence to hold those in power accountable every single week.
“Local groups build and wield power in ways that individuals can’t.” Let’s show up, get organized, and keep persisting.
Local elections are the backbone of our Democracy. St. Charles County Election Authority is preparing for the upcoming April 7, 2026 Municipal and Local Elections. They are in the planning stage so need election judges.
If you are interested in becoming an election judge for the April elections, visit Become an Election Judge. The Election Authority provides training.
The rapid pace of assaults on the US Constitution are exhausting.
Balancing national needs with what we as individuals can do is extremely difficult.
There are several organizations that are currently working Grassroots Non Partisan Efforts to protect the rights of Missourians.
One such effort is through Respect MO Voters
Respect Missouri Voters: Is a grassroots, cross-partisan movement. It is specifically designed to protect the “citizen initiative” process. The movement works to stop politicians from overturning the will of voters. It ensures clear ballot language. It also preserves the Citizens Initiative process in Missouri.
They are very active in 2026 and always need people to help gather signatures or host small informational gatherings. They are looking for volunteers to support every aspect of their efforts. Check out their website and find ways to volunteer.
If you do not have the time to volunteer, please check out the Signature Gathering Events. This way, you can find a convenient location to sign the petition.
The Missouri Voter Protection Coalition (MOVPC) is a non-partisan statewide network. Its voter advocates work to secure the right to vote in Missouri.
Legislation is happening and we should all be aware of how our vote is affected. Today, being an an informed citizen means, you need to find organizations that align with your beliefs. Follow them to stay aware of the issues you care about. If voting rights is something you care deeply about I would encourage you to visit MOVPC Website. Those that join get email updates on issues impacting voting rights.
They have a Legislative Tracker, that tracks the bills affecting MO voting rights.
What is a Persuadable? Usually, they are people that are:
Young and Uncommitted – coming-of-age voters
Repeatedly Disappointed – disillusioned with the same results or lack thereof
Undeclared – agree with points on both sides and often remain undecided until forced to make a choice
How often do receive a postcard advertisement in the mail and simple throw in the trash as you walk in the house? I do it every day! However, if that postcard has a brief handwritten personal note on it I take a second look.
Our goal is to send these to the Persuadables living in St. Charles County, hoping they will take a second look and follow the link to our website for more information.
This may be the perfect DO SOMETHING activity for YOU!

Navigating Immigration Enforcement in St. Charles County
With recent changes to Missouri state law and new partnerships between law enforcement and ICE, it’s important for our neighbors to stay informed. Here is what you need to know about how immigration enforcement currently works in St. Charles City, St. Peters, O’Fallon, Wentzville, and the surrounding county:
1. The Highway Patrol is Now Partnered with ICE 🛣️
As of 2025, the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) has entered a 287(g) Task Force agreement. This means troopers patrolling our highways (I-70, I-64, etc.) are trained and authorized to act as immigration officers during routine traffic stops.
2. Local Police Status 🚔
Local departments like St. Charles City, St. Peters, O’Fallon and Wentzville PD do not have formal 287(g) “deputization” agreements. However, they do share fingerprint data with federal databases during jail bookings through the “Secure Communities” program.
3. Your Rights are Still Yours ⚖️
Regardless of your status, you have constitutional rights:
The Right to Remain Silent: You do not have to answer questions about where you were born or your immigration status.
The Right to a Lawyer: If detained, do not sign any documents without speaking to an attorney.
Warrants Matter: You do not have to let anyone into your home or car without a judicial warrant signed by a judge. (An “ICE Warrant” or Form I-200 is generally not enough for entry without consent.)
Official Information on 287(g):
ICE List of Participating Agencies: Verify active agreements directly.
INDIVISIBLE is joining the ACLU, MoveOn, and Public Citizen in driving as many calls as we can to Capitol Hill. We want congressional phone lines ringing off the hook with constituents demanding the DHS funding bill include restrictions on ICE and Border Patrol.
You can access Individible’s newletter in the link below. They have made the process easy for you. They provide you with a script to follow during the call. They also have an email option. It only takes a couple of minutes.
These are unsettling times. The future feels uncertain. This fear can tempt us to withdraw. It makes us keep our heads down and hope someone else will speak up.
But history reminds us that democracy doesn’t disappear all at once. It erodes when ordinary people are convinced their voices no longer matter.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. warned us of this moment with clarity. He used moral force to emphasize his message: “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
Speaking out doesn’t always mean shouting. Sometimes it means asking hard questions. It involves telling the truth plainly. It requires showing up when it’s uncomfortable. It also means refusing to accept the normalization of injustice. Democracy is not self-sustaining—it depends on participation, vigilance, and moral courage from regular people.
This is a time not to surrender to fear. Instead, choose responsibility. We must be responsible to each other, to the next generation, and to the idea that self-government is worth defending.
We are still here. Our voices still count. And using them matters—now more than ever.
Be certain to check out the calendars on our website. Greater St. Louis County Calendar has many informative events. Ways for us to be engaged citizens. In reviewing the events I realized for the first time that Wentzville has an annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.

We are gathering with other protest organizations from across St Louis to honor the life of Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered by an ICE agent. This candlelight vigil is an act of remembrance and a public declaration: from cities across the United States, we are watching, and we are demanding accountability.
The vigil will take place Friday, January 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM, at the corner of Eager and S. Brentwood Road in Brentwood, where we will line the sidewalks in solidarity. We will provide as many candles as possible, but please bring them if you have them.

Do you remember the classic children’s cartoon, “Santa Claus, Is Comin’ to Town”?
Does Burgermiester Meisterburger remind you of our current President?
In Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, Burgermeister Meisterburger rules by grievance. He criminalizes toys. Outlaws joy and generosity. He rules by might. He mistakes control for leadership.
It is a cartoon – but the warning is real.
Burgermeister Meisterburger is a classic authoritarian:
Thin-skinned
Obsessed with loyalty
Punishes dissent
Hates symbols that unite people without him at the center
As we head into a new year—and toward the 2026 elections—we face a simple question:
Do we keep repeating the cartoon villain’s playbook? Or do we choose leaders who govern with competence, fairness, and care for real people?
In 2026 Let’s bring joy back to Sombertown…by giving a little bit of ourselves!
Why 2026 Matters
Midterm elections decide more than seats. They decide:
Whether economic policy lowers costs or raises them

Regulation isn’t just a burden — it can protect consumers, workers, and fair competition.
I strongly encourage you to click on the link to view the entire episode. I wanted to give a summary of the Molly Jong-Fast “Project 2029: Why Regulation Will Make Democrats Popular Again.” This is Episode 2 of the Project 2029: A Reimagining series.
In the second episode, journalist Molly Jong-Fast explains how regulation and antitrust enforcement are crucial tools. These tools are important for defending the American public against unchecked private power. She and her guests show how regulation helps guarantee fairness, protects individual rights and preserves economic freedom.
📌 Key Points from the Video/Discussion
• Regulation as a positive tool: Voters don’t hate government. They hate feeling unprotected. When policy clearly improves daily life and someone takes credit for it political popularity follows. Regulation isn’t just a burden — it can protect consumers, workers, and fair competition. When people see tangible benefits (like more fair markets and protections), it can boost approval for the party that champions those policies
• Antitrust enforcement matters: Breaking up monopolies and enforcing antitrust laws helps smaller businesses and consumers. Antitrust enforcement lowers prices, raises wages, protects democracy, and keeps the economy working for people instead of monopolies.
• Political strategy angle: Instead of shying away from regulation as “too bureaucratic,” Democrats should embrace their role. They can shape fair markets and economic safeguards. This approach can improve their political standing leading up to 2029. Targeted action that brings meaningful benefits to Americans will result in a stronger coalition.
🎯 Central Message Regulation makes Democrats popular when it’s framed as protection from powerful interests. It becomes more popular when it is felt in everyday life. It should not be viewed as abstract governance.
Candidates currently seeking office in St. Charles County, Missouri, regardless of party, are invited to attend this Event. Kurt Bahr, Election Authority Director for St. Charles County, will be the keynote speaker. Matt Williams, President of The St. Charles County Democratic Club, will serve as MC.
Each candidate will give a short introduction, followed by a period when they will answer individual questions. During this time, you are welcome to enjoy some light refreshments.
Below is the list of Candidates that have confirmed their attendance as of Jan 25, 2026:
On Friday, the Trump regime blew past the legal deadline set by the Epstein Transparency Act to release all the Epstein Files, releasing instead a tiny, selective, and heavily redacted portion of them. This government-wide cover-up was already a scandal — now, it’s blatantly illegal. Use our email tool to send a message to your Republican Members of Congress demanding to know what they’ll do to uphold the law and give Epstein’s survivors the justice they deserve.
US Democracy is shaped by our culture and history…..
A quick 10 minute video produced by PBS on What America’s Founding Fathers REALLY Meant | Civics Made Easy
Our Democracy is often celebrated for its stability and the rights it provides but those very same features can fuel gridlock, minority rule and institutional stagnation. Understanding our Democracy is an important step in understanding what changes we can make to improve our government.
Money and Corruption in Politics – Silencing the voice of the Voter
Before Citizens United, there were limits on how much corporations and unions could spend on election ads. After the ruling, those limits disappeared. Outside groups can now pour millions into TV ads, online ads, and mailers.
While I strongly encourage you to click on the link to view the entire episode, I wanted to give a summary of the Molly Jong-Fast “Project 2029: Campaign Finance Reform Comes First” YouTube video (Episode 1 of the Project 2029: A Reimagining series):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLz2BzCx1ZY
📹 Overview
In the premiere episode, journalist Molly Jong-Fast frames campaign finance reform as the most urgent first step to fixing American politics. She argues that money’s overwhelming influence in elections — especially since the Citizens United decision — has warped priorities in Washington and undermined democracy.
📌 Key Points from the Video/Discussion
• Campaign finance reform must come first: Jong-Fast explains that without addressing how money flows into politics, it’s hard to solve other problems — from policy gridlock to policymaking that favors wealthy donors over voters.
• Citizens United’s impact: The episode highlights how the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United ruling opened the floodgates for unlimited spending in elections by corporations and wealthy interests, shifting power away from ordinary voters.
• Experts featured: The video includes voices like Harvard’s Lawrence Lessig, Tiffany Muller of End Citizens United, Michael Waldman of the Brennan Center for Justice, and other campaign finance reform advocates. They explain how big money influences policy and why reform is essential.
• Call to action: Beyond diagnosing the problem, the video discusses possible paths for reform — both at the federal and state levels — and encourages viewer engagement and activism around those solutions.
🎯 Central Message Money in politics isn’t just a side issue — it’s the first problem to solve if the U.S. is going to restore public trust and make government accountable to everyday people rather than powerful donors.
Please, take the time to view the entire episode and be certain to ask Candidates what they intend to do to reform the harm caused by Citizens United.
BEWARE – Democracy dies in the darkness: Missouri AG calls for ICE to stop United States citizens from collecting signatures to put the illegal gerrymandering map on the ballot.
The Attorney General is NOT doing an investigation herself but reaching out to ICE to scare MO Citizens! This is truly autocracy at work in our own state.
This petition seeks to overturn the new congressional map passed by the Missouri legislature in September 2025. The campaign needs to collect approximately 117,000 signatures by December 11, 2025, to place the measure on the November 2026 ballot. If successful, voters would decide whether to accept or reject the gerrymandered map.
This petition aims to protect citizens’ ability to use the initiative process and prevent the legislature from overturning voter-approved measures. The amendment would expand the initiative and referendum petition process by making it a fundamental right, allow courts to revise ballot summaries through lawsuits, prohibit the legislature from weakening initiative powers, and prevent the legislature from repealing laws enacted through voter initiatives without 80% approval from both chambers. The campaign needs approximately 300,000 signatures by December 31 to qualify for the 2026 ballot. This effort directly counters a GOP-backed constitutional amendment (HJR3) that would require citizen-led initiatives to pass not only statewide but also in all eight congressional districts—a requirement that would not apply to amendments proposed by the legislature itself.
This organization is collecting signatures for two separate petitions. One would amend the state constitution to define marriage as “between two consenting adults,” protecting LGBTQ+ marriage rights if the federal Supreme Court ruling is overturned. The second petition would expand Missouri’s anti-discrimination laws to include sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, and marital status.
This petition seeks to make education a fundamental right for Missouri children and require the state to maintain “adequate, thorough, and uniform high quality free public schools” in every district. The measure aims to address inequality between school districts across the state.

We had pouring rain. We had sprinkles. We had thunder and lightning. We had ink running down our dripping signs. But none of that dampened our spirit and determination. Because we all had a message, and nothing was going to stop us from sending that message to Jeff City and D.C. As soon as you got off Highway 70, you looked up Mid Rivers Mall Drive and saw nothing but a sea of signs on both sides of the road. It was a sight to behold.
Despite the rainy weather we showed up in record numbers. We distributed stickers to count how many people attended. We prepared 2000 and distributed all of them and people just kept on coming. We estimated 2500 people showed up. All sharing a concern for where our country is headed. Your party affiliation didn’t matter. Your race, religion didn’t matter. Nothing mattered except the common cause.
We were having a good time. There was chanting. There was singing. There was music playing. There was a constant honking. There was cheering from the cars and participants. All 2500 people just exercising their RIGHT to peacefully demonstrate.
I left feeling uplifted and hopeful. Soggy, but uplifted and hopeful.

Click the logo above to check out their website and find a way to get involved. They too need people to collect signatures. Again, if you see someone collecting signatures for this effort take the time to sign, so MO voters can be heard.
Informational Update
To fight the new Gerrymandered Map 3 lawsuits have been filed.
NaaCP has filed a lawsuit contesting that Gov. Kehoe decision to call a special session was unconstitutional and thus outputs of special session illegal.
The ACLU is representing plaintiffs in a lawsuit brought forward to fight the power grab. This lawsuit points out the unconstitutionality of the effort as it is being done outside the bounds of a preceding federal census as stated in MO Constitution.
As required by MO Constitution only compact districts are allowed. The 3rd lawsuit points out that the new redistricting violates this as the KC district has been redrawn to extend all the way to the border of Iowa.
Citizen Initiative to Ban Missouri Politicians from Attacking the Will of the People
Respect MO Voters is a bi-partisan organization of volunteers working to keep MO politicians from overturning the will of the people. This organization is getting ready to launch a state wide signature campaign to get a measure on the ballot for November 2026 that will make it more difficult for politicians to overturn the will of the voters.
The signature campaign kicks off on Sept 10th. Please, click the picture above to read more and find ways you can help.
